This interior renovation for an athletics building in the center of Missouri State University features the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Academic Achievement Center. The design guides the visitor up a flight of stairs and down two long corridors deep into the building to the achievement center. There is a strong formal ceiling element that draws the visitor along the path and tells a story along the way. Controlled use of color and logos celebrates the university’s image yet maintains a space suitable for learning. Vinyl wall graphics are used to celebrate the athletic and academic achievements of student athletes and a timeline leading to the achievement center honors the life and accomplishments of Dr. Wynn. The center culminates with a wood-wrapped study room that reflects a sports court surface. To the student-user, the story speaks of a balanced importance of athletic and academic achievements.
