Atrium Hospitality asked interior design firm Architectural Interiors of Annapolis and Hood Rich Architecture to transform their atrium style Embassy Suites Hotel in Greenville, South Carolina. The resort hotel is located adjacent to popular golf courses in “upstate” Carolina in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We began with demolishing the existing planters and landscaping to increase seating capacity and increase visibility throughout the atrium. The neutral color palette allowed natural light from the skylight above to penetrate deep to enliven the Atrium throughout the day. The increased floor area allowed for a variety of connective and social zones. Architectural elements provide the opportunity for small meeting and breakout areas thereby increasing revenue. The water feature was reduced in size but was transformed with a modern approach. The breakfast and cook to order area was streamlined with a simplified layout to improve efficiency and enclosed with large frosted glass walls to transform the space after breakfast with a visual graphic. The complimentary and main bar were combined to improved operational efficiency and offer a variety of seating types. Unnecessary walls were removed from the restaurant making a unified connection to the atrium.
