North Point Church contacted us and told us they wanted to revive an old church building for their new Joplin campus, we knew each gesture would have to be calculated and purposeful. For starters, the existing building had some major code issues that needed to be resolved. We worked closely with city officials to ensure that this remodel provided a higher level of safety than when we started. Creating a clear path for egress was our top priority. We used the existing structure to our advantage to know which walls could be modified to improve acoustics and ease congestion. A sound absorbing ceiling was added only where it was needed, and we made sure we limited our reach in demolition. A fresh coat of paint was our most cost-effective tool for reviving this building, and the new floor finishes completed the new vibrant look. The church self-performed some of the work and certainly was able to do more for less in their new home.
